HomeMaid
A home automation hub in the spirit of Home Assistant, started from scratch around a few ideas that are hard to add later. Very early, and built for one home first: a TP-Link power strip and a Windows PC. Devices come from plugins anyone can write.
what it does
- Typed device capabilities (on/off, brightness, power, volume) instead of free-form strings.
- Desired vs observed state with a reconciler: every command is pending, confirmed or failed.
- Automations checked at load, drawn as a workflow in the app, with a dry run ("what would it do right now?").
- Plugins are sandboxed WebAssembly components, signed, installed and updated from the app without restarting the hub.
- A Flutter app that draws each room as a furnished dollhouse, and turns the phone into a trackpad remote for the PC.
